A Part-Time Lecturer at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Afeez Baruwa, has been captured by the police in Lagos for professedly assaulting a 18-year-old young lady, recognized as Caroline (not her genuine name).

It was learnt that the casualty, who was apparently assaulted inside a study room, was looking for admission into the University.

Baruwa who was captured by the Surulere Police Division on Monday, August 3 told the police in his announcement that the sex was by common assent, demanding that he didn't assault the casualty.

Caroline became more acquainted with the Lecturer through her Father on the grounds that they both had a place with the same landlords association in the Abesan, Ipaja zone.

It was assembled that the casualty's dad had permitted her girl to take after the speaker on July 23, to UNILAG for an admission process.

As indicated by reports, Baruwa purportedly took the young lady inside one of the study room, darted the entryway, and assaulted her.

After the episode, Caroline, who educated her parents concerning the assault, was taken to a non-governmental association, Mirabel Center, where she was tried and the therapeutic result allegedly affirmed that the young person had been assaulted.

After the affirmation, Caroline was taken to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender, where the matter was accounted for at the police headquarters. Baruwa was in this way captured.

A police source in Surulere said:

"The associate is really a companion with the father of the young lady. The young lady had written the UTME Examination, and she required help with the post-UTME.

"In this way, the father sent her to meet and examine with the lecturer.

"In any case, it worked out that on July 23 when the young lady went by the suspect, he assaulted the young lady in the study room.

"The suspect admitted to the act, however his case is that the sex was by common assent."

The Director of the office of the Public Defender, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi, said the OPD would compose a letter to the UNILAG Vice-Chancellor on the episode, in order to guarantee that such did not happen again to anybody.

She said,

"The casualty's dad needed the teacher to help with his little girl's admission. On the game changing day, the young lady left with the speaker as right on time as 5.30am, and they got to the school at around 7am.

"Nobody had arrived at the exam hall with the exception of a lady. While the exams had yet to begin, he assaulted her. She went home, and the father figured out that her little girl had been assaulted. He took her to the Mirabel Center, which then educated the OPD.

"The centre likewise reached the police at the Surulere and Isokoko divisions, and the suspect was captured.

"We are going to safeguard the young lady, and we are composing the VC. The suspect is said to be in the Accounting Department. He guaranteed the sex was consensual, yet that is not a safeguard."

Baruwa, who is right now in custody, will be charged to court on today, Thursday, August 6th.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, affirmed the capture.

She said:

"The suspect claims to be a Unilag Part-Time lecturer, however not an employee of the University of Lagos.

"He has admitted to the wrongdoing and the medical result demonstrated same."
